What is it?
It is a special quinta along the river Beijós consisting of a granite house, several ruins of water mills and an old olive press. The outbuildings are registered for an area of 257 m². The footprint area of the house is 78 m². On ground level are the downstairs rooms, used as stable. On the floor above is the former living area. The house is entirely of granite, as well as the outbuildings. It is not habitable but it’s a wonderful base for a particular house.
What about the facilities?
The quinta has a water source near the house. The river bordering the quinta, always has water, though in summer clearly less. Electricity is far away but hydropower of the river in winter and solar energy in summer might be two interesting possibilities to generate electricity. Satellite is probably the best solution for telephone and internet, and for sewage a septic tank will have to be made.
Is there an outside?
The farmhouse consists of a plot of over 10 hectares. This is partly nice flat farmland and partly beautiful rock formations with trees. In terms of producing trees, there are some olive trees.
The plot is located south overlooking the river and a beautiful slope with rocks and umbrella pines. For people who want to be self-sufficient and want to live in nature, this could be a fantastic place. The river has a beautiful waterfall in winter.
Where is it?
This quinta is located about 2 km outside the village Beijós, in a beautiful area, with healing springs (Sangemil). It is also not far from the mountain range Caramulo. The accessibility is good over a passable dirt road. In the area and in the Caramulo are opportunities for hiking, paragliding and there is a golf course about 15 km.
The small town Tondela lies about 10 km away. Here are the main facilities such as restaurants, shops, supermarkets, post office, banks, medical practices, small hospitals, schools, vocational education, swimming pool, tennis courts, library, theater and a weekly market.
