What is it?
This largely granite house was renovated in the late 90s and made into a comfortable and attractive house. The construction area of the house and the outbuildings is approximately 200 m², of which approximately 164 m² is intended for living. On the first floor are a small kitchen with a large dining room, a bedroom and a bathroom and living room. In the dining room all pipes are available in order to install a larger kitchen. In the living room is a staircase upstairs where there are two more bedrooms and two bathrooms. Via a staircase down you enter a beautiful granite large room, with a guest toilet and a bar. In the past, this floor was used as an exhibition space, but it is also a beautiful space for a studio. Next to it is a spacious garage with an electric door.
How are the facilities?
During the renovation, all windows were replaced by plastic windows with double glazing and fitted with shutters. The roof is insulated. For heating, the kitchen and living room have fireplaces with built-in cassette. The house is connected to electricity, mains water and drainage. Water to irrigate the garden is obtained from a borehole, which provides plenty of water.
Behind the house is a beautiful ornamental garden in several ascending terraces. There is also a wide variety of mature fruit trees such as orange, mandarin, lemon, apple, pear, persimmon and fig. In the garden also grow grapes and olive trees. All terraces have water points and buildings / shelters to enjoy the view. The garden has an area of approximately 1,000 m².
The house is a ready to use family house on the edge of a village with privacy and unobstructed views. Since it has two separate entrances, it could also be considered to create two independent residential units.
Where is it?
The house is on the edge of the village of Pomares. The accessibility is good via a paved quiet village road, that also gives room for the shepherd to go to the fields with his sheep. Pomares is a pleasant village with various facilities such as a primary school (up to 10 years old), shops, cafes, postal agency and hairdresser. In summer there is a river pool in the Pomares River. The nearest larger town at about 5 km is Avô , with more amenities such as some restaurants. Oliveira do Hospital and Arganil are about 20 km away. These are small provincial towns where all important facilities are present such as restaurants, shops, supermarkets, post office, banks, doctors’ practice, schools, library, small hospital (Oliveira do Hospital) and weekly market. The larger city of Coimbra is about 80 km away.
